This quietly captivating beauty somehow found its way onto my iThing a few months ago, and hammered its way into my consciousness without me so much as remembering the name Austra. Anyway, some months later here’s a video (NSFW if your W doesn’t like ladies dancing around in their pants), and several clicks of Google later and I can tell you that Austra is Katie Stelmanis and Katie Stelmanis is a Toronto-based musician who has released some solo stuff and worked with F*cked Up.
I’m none the wiser to be honest. Anyway, like a few other things of late, it sounds a bit like The Knife. Here though, it’s the darker Knife of Silent Shout, but given a pulsing, dark-dancefloor-ready beat. Pretty ace, all told.
