OK… So I’ve had a little bit of a quiet month on here. Fully intending on getting things back up and running at full steam in May, but in the meantime here’s a little collection of some of the better new things that appeared in April. Enjoy!

You can’t deny there’s been a good job done on the hype for this track. Given this feels like about the twelfth time I’ve written about it, and that.

Anyway, one final curveball for the video: it’s essentially Peter Serafinowicz boxing a robot. Of course it is.

Alex Metric & Steve Angello – Open Your Eyes (feat. Ian Brown) – Radio Edit

I blogged about the brilliant, epic instrumental version of this a while ago, and had a bit of a giggle with some “comedy” guesses as to who might be the “indie legend” fronting the upcoming proper single release.

Now, while I can’t dispute that Ian Brown is definitely an indie legend, I’m pretty much as surprised by his presence here as I would have been were it to have been Rick Witter or similar. OK, so King Monkey’s had a bit of a dabble with “dance music” in the fairly recent past, guesting on a couple of UNKLE tracks, but they were really just moody production jobs that matched his existing style and persona.

This, on the other hand, is an arms in the air rave-up, and (dare I say it) almost veering on the camp side of things. In other words, exactly the sort of place I least expected Ian Brown to show up. What’s really weird though is that it isn’t totally awful. Sure, it’s strange, and sounds a bit like Ian’s wandered into the wrong room. But somehow it all comes together quite nicely.

Still prefer the instrumental though, obviously.

So here’s the deal with this one (pay attention it’s complicated):

This is some pretty awesome electro-house action. But don’t get too excited, because this is just the TEASER RADIO EDIT OF THE TEASER INSTRUMENTAL EPIC VERSION. Got that?

I’ve heard the TEASER INSTRUMENTAL EPIC VERSION. It’s pretty epic. And it’s good enough for me and likely to be on heavy rotation for the foreseeable future. But don’t get too excited, because there’s MORE.

The “full release” in March will “excitingly feature an indie legend delivering a top line vocal” (I quote).

Leaving aside the fact that it doesn’t need a vocal really and these things always end up making things worse, that’s pretty EXCITING right?

I’m now of course wondering which “indie legend” it might be.

Who could it be? Bearing in mind the need for a “top line vocal”. Here are the leading contenders. In my MIND.
