I mentioned Beth’s Simian Mobile Disco produced EP a while back, but now it has a video. It’s a rather straightforward homage to early 90s Madonna vids, which Beth actually carries off rather well. And that’s that.

This one didn’t really grab me at first. I’m not particularly fussed about Beth Ditto, who adds her distinctive but rather samey vocals to this mid-paced electro number. It’s got a certain charm though, that works its way through on multiple listens. Background music-y, but not in a bad way? Really.

There’s a bit of a whiff of Novelty Record about this, especially given the video’s more expensive take on the YouTube fanvid tradition of over-literal video readings.
